Alexandrite is a highly prized variety of Chrysoberyl family, only forms when Aluminum/Beryllium and Chrome (which rarely occurs in nature) come together. This rare gemstone is named after the Russian Tsar Alexander II, it became the national stone of Tsarist Russia.
